My 5 favorite places in my region that are a bit forgotten !
The Bas-St-Laurent is often overlooked after passing the Parc national du Bic, but believe me you are missing out on too many great things! With my paddleboard, I love adventures and I also like to vary my playground: calm water, rapids, waves, wind and surf!
Excursion on St-Barnabé island (in front of Rimouski)
This trip is incredible for intermediate paddlers since it can be windy or have currents. The view is absolutely masterful on the north side of the island! The river as far as the eye can see and whales can be seen in this area! The crossing is also possible by zodiac with Excursion Île St-Barnabé !
Descent of the Mitis River ( at St-Angèle-de-Mérici)
This beautiful riverbed is open to all types of boats! Bring your diving mask as there is a diversity of fish to discover at the bottom of the water. Two hours duration for the whole family!
Matapedia Lake
This beautiful 38 km2 lake between Sayabec and Amqui offers you a ride through several islands of the lake! It is even big enough to be a wind corridor! Beautiful wild beaches still exist!
Sunsets in Ste-Flavie
Ste-Flavie is probably my favorite village! It's easy to get to from the municipal wharf in front of the fiery sunset! Finishing up by paddling to the Ketch at the local mike is a must! A down wind can also be done well in this area! Plan the wind accordingly.
Excursion to St-Fabien-sur-Mer
This place is absolutely breathtaking for hikers, but also for paddlers! The water is turquoise and the view of the mountains at the water's edge is masterful! Champlain Peak is just above us and the beaches are easily accessible. An access fee to the National Park may be required in this area.
For kitesurfing I love to go to Ste-Luce-sur-mer, the beautiful beach of the area! A nice community of kitesurfers can be seen at Pointe-à-Pouliot in Pointe-au-Père. The sunsets there are also breathtaking!
