Don't let the cold stop your outdoor activities. Instead, let our heated clothing accompany you all winter long. The cold will no longer be a reason not to go out and play! That said, to make the most of this new technology, here are our tips on our heated collection designed in collaboration with ewool®.

1. A natural partnership with Ewool.

When two Saguenayan jewels join forces, it creates sparks of creativity and ingenuity! In fact, for the past few weeks, Chlorophylle and Ewool have been working together to develop a series of high-performance heating garments.

« From the very first meetings, I had the feeling that we could push back all the limits », explains proudly Alain Desmeules, president and founder of Ewool, who has a lot of ideas for the future of this partnership. The entrepreneur, an engineer by training and a northern explorer, made a 180-degree turn a few years ago to start developing the technology of heating systems integrated into clothing, more specifically heating fabrics, batteries, and the interface with the user.

Chlorophylle’s production manager, Katie Bouchard, is pleased to have a complementary force joining her team of clothing and footwear designers. « We have high quality standards at Chlorophylle and knowing that we will be crossing our knowledge and skills with Mr.Desmeules and his teammates at Ewool can only be an important turning point for our heated clothing. »

2. How does your heated clothing work?

Our range of heated garments includes sleeveless jackets and mittens. A battery is slipped inside them, and thanks to its heating system that also distributes heat, you'll keep your torso, back, and hands nice and warm.

On the product, a round button will allow you to activate the heat and engage one of the three levels of heat. It's simple: the more you move, the more heat you produce, and the reverse is also true. However, imagine yourself on a chairlift at your favorite ski resort and the jacket keeps you from getting chilly for those few minutes.

Whether you're taking a snack break in the middle of your snowshoeing expedition and the cold is getting to you as the sun is not so high in the sky, it's time to turn on the magic function of your jacket.

3. What is the battery life?

Are you a low, medium, or high-intensity type? Depending on your use and the outside temperature, the weather will vary. For mittens, it's around 7h (low intensity), 3.5h (medium intensity), or 2h (high intensity). Similar results can be observed for the sleeveless jacket: 5h (low intensity), 3h (medium intensity) or 2h (high intensity). When you get back from your favorite activity, you'll just need to recharge the batteries and you'll be ready to go out and play in the snow again.

4. The sleeveless jacket's instructions for use.

Breathable by nature, just don't turn on the heat function when you're doing an activity that requires constant effort like snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. With you, from start to finish, the heat function can be activated when you stop to admire the scenery. A breath of warmth on your back and chest just when you could have been shivering. If you were only wearing a shell with a lightly insulated jacket, this is also a good time to pull your "down jacket" out of your backpack to keep the heat in if you plan to be stationary for a while.

5. No, my battery won't bother you in your activities.

Are you worried that the battery in your jacket, which is on your back and therefore falls under your backpack, will interfere with your movements? That your thicker mitt or glove will limit your agility? Its weight, although light, will end up weighing down your day's load.

We had all these doubts before going to the test bench with the SOLIS line. The final verdict? We saw nothing but fire!

6. Who are the heated products designed for?

For sportsmen and women as well as Sunday enthusiasts. They provide extra warmth during breaks between activities, at the top of a mountain, in the chairlift, or simply for people who are cold and do not like the cold. As for mittens or gloves, if you have blood circulation problems that prevent you from warming your hands efficiently, you have found an ally for your winter activities.

7. Products tested and adopted!

Last January, a small team of courageous people braved the cold wave by going on an expedition to Mont-Valins. Their objective? To test a series of upcoming products, in order to rectify or adjust future production. A ritual initiated by the founders of Chlorophylle that we have at heart to reproduce again and again in order to offer our devoted customers products that are synonymous with versatility, and quality, and that are not afraid of wear. With the thermometer hovering around -30, the heated collection was one of the first to land at the bottom of backpacks. This was a great opportunity for the products to be tested again and for us to get feedback from our ambassadors and others.

For Claudie, the marketing director who organized the expedition, the heated jacket in active mode for 2.5 hours, worn with a CHL2 wetsuit and a Montserrat jacket, allowed her to appreciate the lightness of her ensemble which ensured great flexibility and ease of movement.

"This product is just amazing," exclaimed our ambassador Eric Deschamps, a wilderness photographer, with enthusiasm. One of his favorite sayings is "In nature, you have to take your time to take your time". That means spending hours without moving, in the freezing cold of the Gaspésie winter, waiting for a moose or a bird to appear between two snowy trees. Of course, this product can provide a little warmth between two captures or push the observation of an animal even further.

The team even went on a winter camping trip. The jacket allowed our beautiful Claudie to activate her jacket in the middle of the night, in her sleeping bag, in order to keep warm until sunrise.
